The American walnut tree splint is greyish-yellow and is sharply separated from the core. The core is beautiful chocolate brown, with a bluish to purple-tinted violet shade. Easy to work and you can achieve an excellent finish. A very durable hardwood species. Tools can be dulled by working the walnut tree, but the wood is good for nails and screws and can be glued satisfactorily. Used for floors, kitchens, tables, furniture, plywood.
